Vista's Healthy Woman event to bring Elizabeth Smart to Chicago

Elizabeth Smart, a nationally known kidnapping survivor and prominent child protection advocate, will be speaking in the Chicago area for the first time when she appears this fall at the Healthy Woman Expo & Dinner sponsored by Vista Health System. This event will be held Oct. 4 at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort where people can meet Ms. Smart and hear her inspirational story.

The event begins with the Women's Health Expo from 3 - 6 p.m. that is free and open to the public. The Expo will include free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and bone density. Vista physicians, nurses and staff will provide information on a wide range of women's health issues. Plus, the Expo will include dozens of booths featuring products and services of interest to women. Ms. Smart will make an appearance during the last hour of the Expo to meet people and sign autographs.

A ticketed dinner will immediately follow the Expo in the resort's Grand Ballroom where Ms. Smart will speak on “Overcoming Adversity.” Tickets for the dinner are $45 for Healthy Woman members and $55 for non-members, however membership for Healthy Woman is completely free. Dinner seating is limited and advanced reservations are required. Visit www.VistaHealth.com/HealthyWoman to purchase dinner tickets online, join Healthy Woman or receive for more information.

“This will be a beautiful, inspirational evening. I encourage people to call their friends and make it out for this event.” said Barbara Martin, President & Chief Executive Officer of Vista Health System. “We are very excited to bring Elizabeth Smart to the greater Chicago area, and I know that everyone in attendance will be inspired by Elizabeth's story.”

In early June of 2002, 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her Salt Lake City home in the middle of the night. The search to find her was a national news story as her kidnapping nightmare continued for nine months. In the years since her traumatic ordeal, Elizabeth has become a highly visible advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery programs and legislation, and she is a correspondent for ABC News.
