Glenbard North stops Glenbard South

Ashley Stiver went 4-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored and drove in 3, and No. 3 Glenbard North used a 4-run fifth inning to rally past No. 8 Glenbard South 8-4 on Saturday. Alex Caliva was 2-for-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI and winning pitcher Lilly Fecho (8-0) 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Panthers (12-0), who led 3-0, then watched Glenbard South (11-2) score 4 in the fourth before their big fifth inning.

Downers Grove North 6-8, Mother McAuley 1-1:

A day after no-hitting Reavis, Trojans junior Elaine Heflin (7-1) struck out 15 to beat Mother McAuley in the first game of a doubleheader. No. 2 Downers Grove North (13-1) got back-to-back homers in the first inning of Game 2 from Dale Ryndak, a two-run shot and her fourth of the year, and Sam Yeager’s sixth of the season. Winning pitcher Ryndak (6-0) struck out five. Mother McAuley (14-4) was unbeaten heading into the week before losing two games in Orlando and two to the Trojans.

Benet 8-10, Providence 5-7:

Kendall Duffy hit a 3-run homer in the first game for No. 1 Benet (14-2, 2-0 East Suburban Catholic) and Maeve McGuire, Julianne Rurka and Stephanie Abello all went deep in the second game. Benet, which rallied from an early 4-0 deficit in Game 2, now has 26 homers on the season.

Downers Grove South 13, Plainfield South 3:

Katy LaCivita and Jessica Andree homered to key a 15-hit attack for the No. 14 Mustangs (8-5).

Immaculate Conception 7, Timothy Christian 0:

Katelyn Conenna went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI, part of a 16-hit attack, as the Knights (10-4) won their ninth straight. Gabby Davis was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Maria Kieliszewski 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI and Megan Sutton was 2-for-4 with a triple. Jessica Conenna (8-3) fired a two-hitter, striking out eight.

Waubonsie Valley 9-9, West Chicago 8-6:

Amanda Minahan belted a 2-run homer in Game 1 for the No. 17 Warriors (11-4), and Waubonsie rallied with 4 runs in the top of the seventh of the second game for a doubleheader sweep. Rachel Johnson hit a 3-run homer in the first game and Morgan Dastych a 3-run shot in Game 2 for West Chicago (10-5), which had its five-game win streak snapped.

Plainfield East 10-8, Naperville North 8-13:

Alexis Solak went 3-for-4 with a 2-run homer, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored in Game 2, as the Huskies (7-4) salvaged a split of the doubleheader in Plainfield. Tara Degl’Innocenti was 4-for-5 and drove in 3 and Steph Tobin was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Kailee Budicin was 3-for-4 with 4 RBI in Game 1.

Montini 11, Mt. Assisi 1:

Emily Barg hit a 2-run homer and Lauren Trojnar (7-3) fired a three-hitter for Montini (9-7), which won for the eighth time in nine games.

WW South 2-4, Glenbard West 1-6:

WW South scored a run in the bottom of the 10th to take Game 1, and Glenbard West came back with 2 runs in the top of the 11th to win a marathon doubleheader. Meghan Johnson went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Taylor Langtry struck out 11 for Glenbard West in Game 2.
