Stay busy with ‘Passport to Adventure’

Looking to take a family adventure this summer without even leaving the county? Try the “Passport to Adventure” museum program.

“Passport to Adventure” encourages children and parents to visit a variety of local history, nature, science and art museums to explore the people, events, and environment. To start your adventure, pick up a passport from the Geneva Public Library anytime this summer.

The program is designed for children ages 4 to 12. It is co-sponsored by the Illinois Parks & Recreation Association, the Kane-DuPage Regional Museum Association, and several other partner agencies.

“We love to see the many new visitors the Passport program brings to Tekakwitha Woods Nature Center,” said Forest Preserve District Nature Programs Manager Valerie Blaine, “This program has grown tremendously since its inception a decade ago. More and more nature centers and museums are included in the passport book, providing wonderful destinations for summer outings with the kids.”

Forest Preserve District of Kane County sites participating in the program include Tekakwitha Woods Nature Center, the Durant House Museum and Pioneer Sholes School within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, and the Fabyan Villa Museum.

Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve is located at 35W076 Villa Marie Road, off Route 25, St. Charles. LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve is at 37W370 Dean St., just west of Randall Road, St. Charles. Fabyan Villa Museum is located at 1511 Batavia Ave. within the Fabyan Forest Preserve on Route 31 in Geneva.
