Dist. 211 honored as AP numbers go up

District 211 is one of fewer than 400 school districts in the nation — and one of just 27 in Illinois — honored by the College Board with a place on its AP Achievement List for opening Advanced Placement to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher.

From 2008 to 2010, District 211 has increased the number of students participating in AP from 1,879 to 2,097, while maintaining the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher, the score typically needed to earn college credit, at 83 percent.

“Participation in Advanced Placement course work is one of the most important ways that our students demonstrate that they are college-ready,” said Superintendent Nancy Robb.

“Each year, we encourage an even a greater number of students to reach their potentials through enrollment in accelerated and Advanced Placement courses. And, maintaining the level of success in this program demonstrates that our students are taking full advantage of District 211 course work.”

The AP Achievement List includes 388 school districts representing 43 states.
