Schaumburg Township District Library is celebrating Polish American Heritage Month (recognized throughout October) with a variety of programs for you to enjoy.

In addition to Spanish, Japanese and Gujarati bilingual storytimes, Schaumburg Library now offers monthly Polish Bilingual Storytimes. For 3-6-year-olds with their caregivers, October's Polish Bilingual Storytime is on Wednesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library (130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg).

Storyteller Paddy Lynn will share the beautiful story of Irena Sendler, a polish social worker who rescued 2,500 Jewish children in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. Join this program in-person at the Central Library or watch online on Thursday, October 5 at 7 p.m.

The whole family can join the Library at Trickster Cultural Center (190 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg) on Sunday, October 15 at 1 p.m. for a performance from the Lajkonik Polish Song and Dance Ensemble. Please note, there is currently a waitlist for this program.

On Thursday, October 26 at 7 p.m. at the Central Library, Barbara Kozuchowska, a staff member at the Polish American Museum, will tell you about Polish customs and traditions, sharing artifacts and other objects.

Visit SchaumburgLibrary.org/events for more information, including complete program listings and registration details.
