Naval Institute Author of the Year Jerome M. O'Connor to speak at Elmhurst American Legion

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, renowned author and Elmhurst native Jerome M. O'Connor will be giving a presentation at the Elmhurst American Legion Post 187 about the vast and never destroyed Nazi U-boat bunker bases in France during World War II.

For this research on this topic, O'Connor was named the 2001 U.S. Naval Institute "Author of the Year."

 

O'Connor, a Cold War-era Navy veteran, is the author of "The Hidden Places of World War II: The Extraordinary Sites Where History Was Made During the War That Saved Civilization."

The presentation begins at 6 p.m. at the Elmhurst American Legion, 310 W. Butterfield Road.

Any veteran, son, grandson, or great-grandson of a veteran may attend free of charge.

This presentation is also open to any existing American Legion Auxiliary members.
