"We are pleased to once again welcome Mark Olen to share his talents and perform for our community during this year's July patriotic concert," said Jane McMullen, Artist Series chairman at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church.

"Mark and his trumpet are no strangers to Shepherd of the Prairie. He has become one of our most popular musician and has performed during previous Artist Series programs, including last year's 'An American Musical Celebration,' as well as numerous church services."

Trumpeter Olen's versatility is evidenced by performances with the American Jazz Philharmonic, Chicago Jazz Festival, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, to name just a few. He has performed with a multitude of entertainers, including Tony Bennett, Michael McDonald, Al Jarreau, Aretha Franklin, Maynard Ferguson, and David Foster. He has appeared at Toronto's Jazz Bistro, and most notably at the world-famous Birdland Jazz Club in New York, where he performed to sold-out crowds. With Chicago as his home base, Paul has become one of the most in-demand and respected male vocalists and has "taken his place among the top five male jazz singers active today.

Allgood has been described as "assured and daring" by DownBeat Magazine and a "model of sophisticated song interpretation" by the Chicago Tribune. She brings a modern flair to the jazz tradition with her infectious swing feel and lyricism.
