Wheaton College Tolkien Society to put on 'The Princess and the Goblin'

The Marion E. Wade Center and Wheaton College Tolkien Society at Wheaton College will present the drama "The Princess and the Goblin," adapted from the 1872 children's fantasy novel by George MacDonald.

Performances will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, March 28 and 30, and 4 p.m. Friday, March 31.

This novel-length fairy tale, first published in 1872, features Princess Irene and Curdie the miner's son, who must find their courage to help each other and save their kingdom from some treacherous goblins.

The play is adapted and performed by students in the Wheaton College Tolkien Society.

Performances run 45 minutes long, are free, and no tickets or RSVPs are required, however seating is limited to first-come, first-served. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Doors open a half-hour before each performance.

This event is appropriate for ages 5 and up. Performances are in the Marion E. Wade Center's Bakke Auditorium, 351 E. Lincoln Ave. in Wheaton. Masking is optional.
