Huntley's Shepherd of the Prairie sets Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter services

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley, will hold two Palm Sunday services on Sunday, April 2, including a traditional worship with Palms at 9 a.m. and contemporary worship with Palms at 10:45 a.m. Both services will begin outside, weather permitting, and worshippers will proceed with Palms into the church sanctuary.

On Maundy Thursday, April 6, there will be a traditional service 7 p.m. with focus on servanthood, loving one another, and the Lord's Supper.

On Good Friday April 7, all are invited to a family/children's service at 10 a.m. The 7 p.m. Tenebrae service gets its name from the Latin word for darkness. The service focuses on the seven last words of Christ with the alternating of scripture readings, lighting of candles and hymns.

There will be an Easter-themed traditional worship at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 8.

On Easter Sunday April 9, a festive traditional worship with organ, trumpet, and small vocal ensemble at 9 a.m. and festive contemporary worship with praise band at 11 a.m.

Worship is led by the Rev. Mark Boster, senior pastor, and the Rev. Ryan Mackey.
