Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish to host drive-up ashes Feb. 22

Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Elk Grove Village is proud to announce its Ash Wednesday community drive-up event, which will take place in front of Tasty Catering, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event will provide an opportunity for members of the community to receive ashes and begin the Lenten season with reflection and renewal.

As part of the Ash Wednesday observance, participants will receive ashes in the form of a cross on their foreheads, symbolizing the beginning of the 40-day period of fasting and penitence leading up to Easter Sunday. The drive-up event will take place in front of Tasty Catering at 1900 Touhy Avenue in the Elk Grove Village Industrial Park, and participants will be able to receive the ashes while remaining in their vehicles.

Father Dan Folwaczny, Pastor of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and organizer of the event, said, "We understand that this continues to be a challenging time for many, and we wanted to provide an opportunity for members of our community to come together and start the Lenten season in a meaningful way. The drive-up event allows us to bring healing, hope and hospitality out into the community."

The Ash Wednesday drive-up event is open to all members of the community, regardless of faith or denomination. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles and follow all traffic safety protocols.
