Music Trivia Program for Senior Adults at Senior Planet from AARP

What's That Song tests participants' knowledge of some popular, soul, folk, movie and country music hits from an era most boomers grew up in. Attendees will guess a song's name and can also answer trivia questions about the tune at this free online event being held on Friday, February 17 at 12:30 PM Central.

Senior adults are invited to take a trip down memory lane when Judy and Michael Yublosky lead a group of "hip" seniors in their combined version of "Name That Tune" and "Jeopardy" audience participation event. The program's theme is music trivia from the 60s and 70s.

This pair of senior-adult digital concierges regularly select from their love of music and dance library collection to test seniors' memories of the good old days. They play five or six notes from the beginning of a hit tune and ask "What's That Song?" Follow-up questions may include asking the name(s) of the performing artist(s), the year of publication or release, the composer's name, other interesting facts and more. This is a fun filled event where all can reminisce.

Registration is not required, just drop in.

A trainer at Senior Planet from AARP recently wrote: "Thank you so much for volunteering for Senior Planet. It benefits sooooo many seniors and I know it is greatly appreciated. When I had the opportunity to sit in on the meetings, although my camera was off, I was listening in, and gleaned info myself."

Background

Judy and Michael are long-time residents of Buffalo Grove, IL. They each have a decades-long history of volunteer work and formed a senior adult social group in 2017 called SAGESofBG. Their current mission is to help enrich the lives of senior adults through technology training so people can safely and confidently enjoy the benefits of using their computers to explore the "world's most amazing electronic library."

The Yubloskys also co-host the WACI Group on most Mondays at Senior Planet from AARP at 5:00 PM Central. The audience is comprised mainly of retired boomers and silent gens who listen to the many insights and tips Michael and Judy eagerly share. Anyone can also ask questions to increase their knowledge or solve a challenge. Their website is found at https://abncparties.com/ where they are busy "Making Technology Fun For Senior Adults."

Senior Planet is the flagship program of the national nonprofit Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP. The organization was founded in 2004, "to help seniors learn and use technology, so they could live better in the digital age."

Senior Planet provides newsletters, free classes and events through six regional locations and online activities. OATS formally joined the AARP family as a charitable affiliate in 2021.
