Chef's Culinary Challenge to fund West Suburban Community Pantry efforts to fight hunger

West Suburban Community Pantry in Woodridge is meeting the increasing need to "Fight Against Hunger" with the organization's popular annual fundraiser, the Chefs' Culinary Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Chicago Marriott Naperville.

The event will feature six well-known area chefs each preparing one course of a six-course meal to be enjoyed family-style.

Chefs will work from a center-stage "observation kitchen" so guests can see each course finished and plated live. The featured chefs will be: Chicago Marriott Naperville Chef Scott Wallett Jr., Spice Dog Provisions Chef Zac Rogers, Belgio's Catering Chef Raul Armenta, Chef By Request Catering Chef David Miller, SixtyFour-Wine Bar & Kitchen Chef Jamie Shahayt, Vasili's Chef Jaysen Euler, and a chef from Santo Cielo.

The evening also features cocktails and wines on the table, a silent auction with electronic bidding and checkout, mission moment and paddle raise, and more.

"We ensure that 100% of the proceeds from the event provide food and supportive services to our neighbors throughout DuPage and Will counties. We currently serve over 6,800 adults, children, and senior citizens each month, and that number continues to rise at an alarming rate. The cost and accessibility of food is an increasing challenge," said Lisa Spaeth, development director. "We are committed to meeting the need despite the challenges. That's why this event is so important to our cause."

The evening begins with cocktail hour at 5 p.m., a seven-course dinner at 6 p.m., and the live auction and program at 8:15 p.m. The silent auction closes at 9 p.m.

Presenting Sponsor for the 11th annual Chefs' Culinary Challenge is Old National Bank. Ronald L. McDaniel Foundation is the Hunger Hero and Platinum Sponsors are Ann & Victor Pokorny Memorial Fund and Marquette Companies/Century 21 Affiliated Ryan Hill Group.

Early bird priced individual tickets for $135 and tables for 10 for $1,250 are available until Wednesday, Jan. 18. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, Feb. 1.
