Seize the day with Newsies Jr. at Northbrook Theatre

Experience late 1800s New York City and the gumption of its young laborers when Northbrook Theatre Youth Company (NTYC) presents Disney's Newsies Jr.!

The Broadway classic runs October 25-October 29 at the Northbrook Theatre, 3323 Walters Avenue. Take a stroll along the newspaper route of young Jack Kelly, a New York City newsboy in the late 1800s. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right.

"Newsies Jr. is a brassy and rousing musical based on the 1992 film," said Performing Arts Supervisor Drew Kambach. "Our production showcases our local talent through high-energy dances and catchy anthems that remind us to fight for what we believe in."

Newsies Jr. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, Newsies. The production features numbers from the original musical such as "Santa Fe,""Carrying the Banner" and "Seize the Day" performed by NTYC actors ranging from 8-14 years of age.
