Burr Ridge woman celebrates turning 100

A Burr Ridge woman recently joined the centenarian club. Sophia "Sunni" McGee, a resident of Harvester Place, an Anthem Memory Care community, celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 14 with family and friends at the community located at 150 S. Frontage Rd., Burr Ridge.

In the 1960s, the Chicago native ran an apparel manufacturing business out of her home making popular headbands, woven belts and woven wristbands. After retiring from Saks in her early 80's, she continued to enjoy dancing, bridge, and gardening.

Her secret to longevity: "healthy eating, staying active, dancing and not sweating the small stuff."
