Schaumburg Library hosts conversation with sculptor Richard Hunt

Schaumburg Township District Library is excited to host prolific sculptor Richard Hunt in an online conversation with art historian Jeff Mishur on Saturday, Sept. 17.

While Schaumburg Library celebrates its 60th anniversary this September, 2022 also marks 20 years that its Central Library at 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, has been home to the "Open Book" statue created by Chicago artist Richard Hunt.

Hunt has public commissions all over the Chicago area and the United States, including The Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Chicago Cultural Center, Ravinia Festival, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and other locations.

He has won multiple awards, earned several honorary university degrees, and hit many milestones as an African American artist.

He will be joined in conversation by art historian Jeff Mishur as they discuss Hunt's long and influential career.

Mishur is vice president and co-owner of Art Excursions. He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in the history of art from Northern Illinois University. He is a popular lecturer on topics related to the history of art, travel and architecture.

"The Artist Richard Hunt in Conversation with Jeff Mishur" will be held via Zoom at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. After registering, you will receive a link to the Zoom webinar at least one hour in advance of the program.
