Celebrate the last days of summer with Bridge Communities' Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ Sept. 10

This year, summer isn't over yet! The Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ returns for its 41st year on Saturday, Sept. 10.

It is the largest amateur BBQ contest in the state of Illinois, with teams competing in Best Ribs, Best Chicken, Best Dish, and Best Sauce.

After you have some delicious BBQ from one of our vendors, walk on over to the competition to vote for your favorite BBQ sauce from our competitors and get tips from the home-chef pros.

The Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ Competition is sponsored by Real Urban Barbecue.

Plenty of great vendors, including the Competition sponsor, Real Urban Barbecue, Dan and Duff's, Steamboat BBQ, and Taco Factory, will be there offering various kinds of BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, Nothin' Bundt Cakes, Two Brothers Brewing cold beer and more.

There will be activities for the entire family, including Piglet Playland with host Mary Macaroni, children's enthusiast, along with mural painting, bounce houses, and delicious treats for the kids. And some of the best bands in the area, including The Rob Post Band, Ralph Covert of The Bad Examples, and more.

"The BBQ is thrilled to welcome some terrific bands like Hillbilly Rockstarz, and one of our favorite local bands, Panic at the Costco," says Amy Van Polen, Bridge Communities Senior Director. Last, but not least, there will also be a raffle table.

"In 14 years, we have gone from a neighborhood barbeque to one of the most anticipated events in Glen Ellyn and raised over $375,000 to help families facing homelessness in DuPage County," says GEBYBBQ co-chair Rani McKee. "BBQ, bands, and beer, what's not to like? We have something for everyone; Awesome BBQ, great bands, super fun kids play area, beer and the largest amateur BBQ contest in the State of Illinois."

The GEBYBBQ is open to the public from noon to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Glenwood Ave parking lot on Crescent Boulevard in downtown Glen Ellyn.
