Schaumburg Library increases laptop kits available to check out, thanks to grant funding from Illinois State Librarian

Schaumburg Township District Library now has 32 laptop kits available to check out, thanks in part to funding from Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White's Expanding Digital Inclusion: Transforming Library Services grant.

A total of 32 laptop kits, 16 PCs and 16 Macs, are now available for Schaumburg Library cardholders to borrow. Each kit contains a laptop and a hotspot for free Wi-Fi access, and all laptops have the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, as well as Zoom.

In addition, Schaumburg Library has 73 hotspots available to check out, giving community members access to free Wi-Fi for their own devices.

Making these kinds of technology available to check out helps address the digital divide, helping to ensure Schaumburg Township community members have access to the technology they need, when and where they need it.

Visit any Schaumburg Library location or head to SchaumburgLibrary.org to get started in finding and checking out the technology you need. Schaumburg Township District Library has locations in Schaumburg, Hanover Park and Hoffman Estates.

Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA).
