Susan Anne Russell's solo art show to feature 'Meditative Moments'

In June, Susan Anne Russell will have a solo show of her artwork called "Meditative Moments" at the Woodstock Opera House.

This historical Victorian style venue hosts performing arts and fine art events. Built in 1889, the building has an "old world" charm and remains a landmark of the town. In the past, the opera house hosted vaudeville and dramatic performances. Famous actors such as Paul Newman and Shelly Berman graced the stage

The Woodstock Opera House hosts a variety of programming and events each year including concerts, theatrical plays, dance performances and art events. Situated on the historic square in downtown Woodstock, the Opera House is one of the oldest operating venues in the country.

Russell has been invited back to the Opera House, after her first solo show in 2018. In 2017, she was the art judge at the Libertyville fair situated by the Cook Mansion. She recently was a judge at Art on the Square, located in the town of Lake Forest.

In April, Russell was selected by Jury to exhibit in the second largest art show in Chicago, The Other Art Fair. This show occurs a few weeks after Art Expo at Navy Pier. The Other Art fair hosts over 100 artists. A Chicago periodical listed Russell as one of five top standout artists for her spiritual and mediative paintings. In December, she was accepted into Miami Spectrum, at the same time as the world's largest art show Miami Art Basel.

Recent solo shows include: "Ethereal Dreams" (2019) at Winnetka Community House, "Reaching for The Sublime," (2018 and 2022 at The Woodstock Opera House, "Dreamscapes" (2013) at the David Adler Mansion in Libertyville, and "Renewal" (2008) at Oxala Gallery in Pilsen.

Russell will be showing at the Woodstock Opera House a combination of new and classic works from her collections of waterfalls and landscapes. Additionally she has created new works depicting the harp.
