Makray Memorial Golf Club is pleased to announce that they have been selected as a 2022 winner of The Knot Best of Weddings, an accolade representing the highest- and most-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot, a leading all in one wedding planning destination. This is the 10th year Makray Memorial Golf Club has been named a winner of The Knot Best of Weddings awards.
Makray Memorial Golf Club is a golf club wedding venue situated in Barrington, IL Paul Makray Sr. started a public golf course in 1962, called Thunderbird. His vision was to create a joyous and family-friendly golfing experience without the exclusion of membership. Nearly ten years after his passing in 1999, his family decided to honor him by drastically remodeling and revamping the course and clubhouse in June 2002. Nearly three years later, Makray Memorial Golf Club was officially opened and became what it is today. This expansive golf course plays host to a variety of special events of up to 240 guests. Whether you're envisioning an outdoor ceremony or an extravagant ballroom reception, this property can provide the setting to the day you've always dreamed of. This lavish golf club boasts views of rolling hills and luscious green land for as far as the eye can see. Located just north of downtown Chicago, the venue is ideal for those seeking to escape to the country without having to travel far. Summertime ceremonies can take place on the site's championship-style golf course. Couples can exchange vows on fabulous fairways as their guests watch on in pure joy. The lawn opposite the clubhouse is also a great area for intimate ceremonies. Featuring large windows, this open space allows natural light to fill the room and create an organic flow. With designated space for seating and dancing, this area allows you and your guest to dance the night away and create everlasting memories. Rehearsal dinners can be held in the onsite Oak Terrace Grille Restaurant.
