Northfield Township Road District Announces 2022 Recycling Dates for Township Residents

The Northfield Township Road District will resume its Recycling Program on Monday, April 4, 2022 at its facility garage, located at 237 Melvin Drive in Northbrook. This program, designed for Northfield Township residents only, is open Mondays-Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., except for holidays. For a full list of accepted recyclable items, visit the Northfield Township Recycling Program.

For Northfield Township residents, a series of special recycling events are planned for 2022 including:

Free Paper Shredding & Recycling: Residents may bring three containers of paper. Please remove staples and clips before you come and be prepared to show ID. This is not for business recycling.

• Saturday, April 23, from 9am-noon at the Metra Station in Northbrook, 1401 Shermer Rd., West side of tracks in the commuter lot

• Wednesday, May 11, from 9am-1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook

• Saturday, June 11, from 9am-1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook

• Saturday, July 16, from 9am-1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook

• Wednesday, July 27, from 9am-1pm at the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Rd., Northfield

• Saturday, August 20 , from 9am- 1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook

• Saturday, September 17, from 9am-1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook

• Saturday, October 15, from 9am-1pm at the Road District garage, 237 Melvin Dr. in Northbrook (last shredding event for the year).

Household Hazardous Waste Collection: Held at the Northfield Township Road District garage at 237 Melvin Drive, Northbrook from 9am- 1pm

• Saturday, June 25th

• Saturday, October 22nd

For the safety of staff and attendees at these events, all efforts will be made to make the drop off contactless. Residents should be prepared to show their ID with their Township address, and be responsible for removing the recycling items from their vehicles.

"It's a great time for Northfield Township residents to do some clean up at their homes, garages, and storage spaces, and get rid of things in an environmentally responsible way."
