Wheaton Park District is partnering with Bridge Communities to fill needs

The Wheaton Park District and Bridge Communities are partnering to collect donations to help homeless families and others in need.

Bridge Communities is a Glen Ellyn-based nonprofit organization that helps people with issues related to homelessness, unemployment, debt, and parenting.

The partnership was forged to bring both the park district's and Bridge Communities resources together to serve the community and honor the value of integrity.

Donations are being accepted now through April 7 in donation boxes at the following park district locations:

• Parks Service Center, 1000 Manchester Drive;

• Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road;

• Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard St.;

• Mary Lubko Center, 208 W. Union Ave.;

• Cosley Zoo, 1356 N. Gary Ave.;

• Central Athletic Complex, 500 S. Naperville Road.

Both household items and personal items will be collected.

Suggested donation items include: laundry and dishwasher detergent, bathroom and glass cleaner, cleaning sponges, zip-lock bags, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, paper towels, light bulbs, and toilet paper.

Suggested donations of these personal items also are requested: toiletries, sunscreen, band-aids, antibiotic cream, pain reliever for adults and children, hand and body lotion, baby wet wipes, sanitary pads, deodorant, and razors.

Bridge Communities helps people find employment, reduce debt and secure housing. The organization also teaches general life skills.
