District 54 kindergarten registration for 2022-2023

District 54 will hold kindergarten registration by appointment only starting Feb. 2, 2022, at all elementary schools. Families must begin the registration process online prior to scheduling an appointment. If your child is currently enrolled at the District 54 Early Learning Center and will be going to kindergarten next year you do not need to register your child at this time.

Only those children whose fifth birthday falls on or before Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. District 54 offers a free full-day kindergarten program at all of our elementary schools, although options are available for students to attend a half-day program.

If you have a student currently enrolled in District 54, you can register through your Parent Portal account. Current families who need more information on creating a parent portal account should visit the Infinite Campus site or email portalsupport@sd54.org. Families who have not previously attended District 54 and do not have a Parent Portal account should register their student through our online registration link at sd54.org/registration. Once your application is complete, please contact the school office to schedule your in-person appointment to present the documentation listed below and sign documents to complete the student's registration.

To find your neighborhood school, visit the School Boundaries page at sd54.org/district-boundaries.

To complete the enrollment process at your neighborhood school, please bring the following documentation:

• Proof of immunizations

• Birth Certificate or passport (original with seal). Official birth certificates are issued by the county clerk in the county in which the child was born. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.

• Proof of residence (details listed below)

Proof of Residence

Families new to District 54 must provide documented proof of their residence within the boundaries of School District 54 at the time of kindergarten registration. Current District 54 families will provide this documentation when registering their current students for the 2022-2023 school year. For more information on proof of residence and examples of such documentation, visit sd54.org/registration.

Consumable Materials Fees

Parents or guardians are required to pay a $50 consumable materials fee per student prior to the start of the school year. Payments can be made by credit card through your Parent Portal account or by check or money order at the student's school. This fee covers the cost of workbooks, paper, art supplies and other items used by students. If you believe you will qualify for the Free Lunch Program in the 2022-23 school year, and therefore will qualify for a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee at this time. Applications will be available in August for the Free Lunch Program.

For those students who may qualify for special education services in the district, the parents may be referred to our Special Education Department.
