Schaumburg Township District Library has once again received a 5-star designation in Library Journal's Index of U.S. Public Library Service.

The 2021 scores and Star Ratings, announced earlier this month by Library Journal, are based on FY 19 data from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Public Library Survey (PLS). The rankings are based on library budget size and per capita data for circulation of physical and electronic items, library visits, program attendance, public computer use, WiFi sessions and electronic information usage.

A total of 15 libraries in Illinois received a star designation, with 9 of those receiving the highest 5-star designation. Schaumburg Library received 5 stars in 2020 as well.

"I'm very proud of our Library, our staff, our Trustees, and all that we're able to accomplish together," said Executive Director Annie Miskewitch. "It's wonderful to be named among so many other libraries as we all work hard to serve our communities."

Miskewitch also noted that these ratings represent pre-pandemic data. "It will be interesting to see how things change with library data nation-wide in the coming years," she said. "I know our Library was able to adapt quickly to the changing needs of our community, as were many other libraries. And though that may not be reflected in a survey like this, we keep our focus on why we're here and what we're able to do to support all members of our community."
