North Suburban YMCA Gears Up for Annual Giving Tuesday Donation Drive

As the season of giving officially kicks off, the North Suburban YMCA has announced its participation in Giving Tuesday, a global day of charity and generosity, held on Tuesday, November 30. Giving Tuesday harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide. This year, the Y is asking the community to make contributions directly to the Northbrook-based Y.

"Social responsibility is central to the YMCA's mission," explains Kathy Fielding, CEO of the North Suburban YMCA. "The Y is completely connected to its communities, and we mutually depend upon and support each other. Making a donation to the Y on Giving Tuesday will help ensure that the Y will be here to give back to the community and provide financial assistance scholarships for generations to come."

The NSYMCA's participation in Giving Tuesday is one of a series of Y Social Responsibility initiatives that give back to the wider community. These projects have encouraged outreach by the Y's staff for a variety of causes including collecting extra Halloween candy to send to military troops, distributing "Blessing Bags" to the Homeless, sponsoring holiday food drives to help local organizations like Hunger Free Northbrook and Hunger Resource Network, and offering free on-site Covid-19 testing.

The North Suburban YMCA is a charitable organization that relies on donations to fund its line-up of life-changing programs and services for individuals and families, which are made available to all regardless of one's ability to pay. This year, Facebook may match a portion of Y donations made directly through a link on the Y's Facebook page starting at 7 a.m. on Nov. 30. Donations can also be made at www.NSYMCA.org/Give.

Donations in 2021 have already made it possible for 79 children to attend summer camp, 239 children to learn to swim, 250 seniors to have a Y membership, and the Special Needs Department to expand services.
