The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band, in partnership with District 214 Community Education, presents the first of four indoor concerts at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Fall Concert will premier the band's new conductor, Pietro Pisello, who is in his eighth year of music education and is currently the director of bands at Rich East High School in Park Forest.

Pietro graduated from Ridgewood High School and received his bachelor's degree in music education from Trinity University in Deerfield. He plays trombone in The Sicilian Band of Chicago and serves as its guest conductor.

This concert will feature music composed and arranged by American composers. The band will be performing music from a wide range of composers from contemporary ones like Brian Balmages and Frank Tichelli to legends like Leroy Anderson and Leonard Bernstein, plus movie composers Danny Elfman ("Batman") and John Williams ("Hook").

American composer R. Christopher Teichler will be the guest conductor and direct the band in two of his compositions. He is a composer, conductor, performer and teacher. His music has been performed by ensembles ranging from middle school bands through professional symphony orchestras.

The concert will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, in the Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Admission is free, but the band does accept donations to offset the cost of music and new musical instruments.
