Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley to honor the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with acts of service

In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the United States, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley will participate in the 9/11 National Day of Service.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley will join organizations and volunteers across the country that are coordinating virtual and in-person service projects and commemorative events designed to inspire unity, compassion and pride.

Service opportunities planned by Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley include home building in Batavia, Carpentersville and Crystal Lake as well as special projects at ReStore Elgin and Arlington Heights.

"We hope that people are encouraged and find hope in the volunteer work they are doing. Everyone coming together 20 years later on a day that hurt so many is proof that we can and will continue to create a better and more peaceful world," said Barbara Beckman, Executive Director. "And for Habitat, it starts at home."
