Celebrate the summer sounds of the 3 S's --Stravinsky, Saint Saens, and Sousa performed by the Wheaton Municipal Band on Thursday, July 8, in Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton. Dr. Bruce Moss shows off the band with three musical giants in a program filled with passionate harmonies, lyrical melodies and brilliant instrumentation.

Sousa, the March King, wrote specifically for concert band, but the Stravinsky and Saint Saen transcriptions show off the band's instruments. This is a challenge musically for the band, but they are up to the task.

Featured on the program is bassoonist Vicki Long playing another composer whose name begins with "S", Schumann, Robert. Long will dazzle with her virtuosity on the Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, by William Davis.
