Incentives to join the Arlington Heights Historical Society

Do you love living in the Northwest Suburbs and want to help preserve local history? If so, it's time to become a member of the Arlington Heights Historical Society.

Created in 1957, the society, in partnership with the Village of Arlington Heights and Arlington Heights Park District, operates the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, "where curiosity comes to life."

The two-acre campus with five historic buildings hosts a collection of more than 50,000 artifacts that tell the story of the founding and growth of the community.

Become a member and enjoy the following benefits:

• Free admission to the historical museum.

• A quarterly copy of "The Dunton Post," with information on all the latest society events and projects.

• Free four-pack of refreshing Arlington Club Soda, with eight flavors available: Sarsaparilla, Pale Dry Ginger Ale, Strawberry, Lemonade, Red Cream Soda, Grape, Orange and Black Cherry. The first four flavors are made following F.W. "Pop" Muller's original recipes from 1872.

• 10% discount on purchases from the Heritage Gallery Gift Shop.

• 15% discount on room rental fee for the Arlington Room.

• Reduced admission to specific special events.

• Invitations to exhibit openings and receptions.

• Free membership in the Time Travelers program, which includes discounts and benefits to more than 300 museums nationwide and more.

As a thank you for purchasing or renewing a membership, each member will be entered into a raffle featuring 10 themed baskets and a grand prize - a $300 certificate for Southwest Airlines.

Baskets are on display at the Heritage Gallery, 110 W. Fremont St., Arlington Heights.

Additionally, during the month of July, members will receive special discounts at the farmers market, one of several events held by the society. The farmers market is held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Memberships are sold during museum hours, at the farmers market and online at www.ahmuseum.org/partnerships/memberships.

If purchasing your membership online, email manager.ahfarmersmarket@gmail.com to get a look at complete raffle baskets and choose your favorite. Raffle drawings will be held July 24 and 31.

Summer hours for the Arlington Heights Historical Museum are 1 to 7 p.m. Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays; and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays. Building tours are given at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturdays.
