Schaumburg Library Announces Poetry Contest Winners

The winners of Schaumburg Township District Library's poetry contest are Pretti Singh for "In a Time of Distance" in the adult category; Madison Schoewe for "April 2020" in the teen category; and Alissa for "The Little Birdies" in the children's category.

The annual contest ran from April 1 through May 15 in celebration of National Poetry Month. Submissions were limited to 250 words per poem. Winning poems will be soon be posted at https://www.schaumburglibrary.org/poetry-contest .

"The Poetry Writing Contest provides an opportunity for writers of all ages to submit their works of poetry," said Fiction Librarian Allison Bies, who coordinated the contest. "The judging team enjoys the creativity, passion, and style diversity of entries."

Next up in library writing events is the annual Flash Fiction contest, which began Wednesday, July 1 and will conclude Friday, July 31. For more information or to submit an entry, go to https://www.schaumburglibrary.org/flashfiction
