Huntley's Shepherd of the Prairie to explore God's will during Lenten worship

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley announces its Lenten season services and Bible study which explores how society grieves and laments.

It will begin its Lenten services on Wednesday, Feb. 17, with both in-person and online Ash Wednesday services at noon and 7 p.m.

In-person worship will be limited to 70 participants. All pandemic public health protocols will be in place and all worshippers will be required to wear a face mask.

For further information and to reserve seating at the worship service, call the church office at (847) 669-9448.

Subsequent weekly Wednesday Lenten services will be available online only at 7 p.m. from Feb. 17 through March 24.

"Each week, the worship service will focus on different aspects of God's will at work among us," said Pastor Mark Boster. "Jesus prayed 'Not as I will, but as you will' to His Father the night before he went to the cross for our salvation. This is our prayer during this Lenten season as we seek to do God's will in our lives."

Various Biblical characters will be featured each week to focus on the struggles individuals face in submitting to God's will, such as: Isaac on Feb. 17; Moses on Feb. 24; King David on March 3; Mary on March 10; Paul on March 17; and Lydia on March 24.

Bible studies during the Lenten season focusing on grief presented by the Rev. Bill Waxenberg, director of adult education, will be available on the church's website shepherdoftheprairie.com.

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church located at 10805 Main St. in Huntley is under the faith leadership of Pastor Mark Boster. It has served the faith community in Huntley for over 20 years.
