Love is the theme for Highland Park Art Stroll

The Art Stroll in Highland Park will be held this year from Feb. 12 to April 2. The Art Center of Highland Park, 1957 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, will be organizing the event and using storefront spaces to showcase local and established artists.

Susan Anne Russell, an established artist whose work can be found in collections internationally, will be displaying her Swan paintings, in a storefront at 464 Central Ave.

The paintings are situated on easels in a space previously housing a branch of Orphans of the Storm.

This year the theme encompasses love, as the show opens just before Valentine's Day.

"Swan in Flight," a large-scale work, takes on elements of grace and motion. "Swan Lake," a smaller and more intimate piece, was inspired by Tchaikovsky's ballet. These two works exemplify the symbolism of love as swans have been associated with light, grace, beauty, love, purity and more.

The show is free and open to the public. For more information, visit theartcenterhp.org.
