Friends of the Algonquin Area Library award scholarships

The Friends of the Algonquin Area Public Library District have named two recipients for their annual scholarships for higher education.

Each year, the volunteer group awards multiple $1,000 scholarships for the upcoming school year to a library employee, volunteer, or relative of a library employee.

These scholarships help community members pay for higher education degrees.

Hriteesh Haridas is a longtime volunteer for the library who became a library page in 2020. He is attending Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan.

Lauren Henriques is the daughter of library employee Julie Henriques, attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

The Friends hope these scholarships assist in the financial needs of these students as they move toward higher education. The library is grateful to have the support of the volunteer group.

You can donate directly to the Friends by purchasing books in Bill's Book Nook, located at the Algonquin Area Public Library Main Library at 2600 Harnish Drive.
