A beautiful re-opening in Deerfield

Renu Day Spa optimizes sanitation and hygiene procedures to provide a safe, stress-free, healing experience for guests

In the weeks since Renu Day Spa re-opened its doors, customers have been scheduling appointments for long delayed services in increasing numbers, drawn by the salon's well-known focus on rigorous hygiene and sanitation. Already operating with some of the industry's highest safety standards, Renu's owners and staff worked tirelessly to implement new policies and procedures essential in the age of COVID-19.

Prior to re-opening day on May 29th, every Renu employee became Clean Touch certified, completing extensive training to meet Dermalogica's professional-grade standards and principles for enhanced service safety. The course covered a complete range of topics, including proper sterilization of spa tools, cleaning techniques for high-touch areas and best practices for wearing and disposal of protective wear.

"Our top priority has always been, and will continue to be, the health and well-being of our customers," said Izabela Kaczerzewska, who co-owns the salon with Jack Wojnarski. "We've considered every step of our processes, from arrival through check-out, to keep guests and employees safe and well."

These efforts include:

• Temperature checks at front door for technicians and clients.

• Hand sanitizer provided for use upon entering the spa.

• Plexiglass dividers installed at the front desk and at individual stations.

• Touchless payment options provided.

• Social distancing guidelines strictly observed and clearly marked.

• Aestheticians wear masks and face shields while performing facials.

• All technicians separated, and wear gloves and masks.

• Technicians wash hands for 20 seconds before and after contact with each client and/or used tools.

• Stations thoroughly sanitized before each treatment.

• Customers required to wear face coverings.

• Customers asked not to visit the spa if under a quarantine order or if they or a member of their household has a fever, COVID-19 symptoms or a communicable illness.

Customers were grateful for the measures taken to keep the spa impeccably clean and comfortable. Guest PB called her visit an "amazing experience" and EZ noted that she "felt very safe…will be back next week."

For Izabela, a licensed physical therapist and esthetician, taking extraordinary measures to maintain customers' health has been a way of doing business since she began working at Renu a decade ago. After acquiring the spa with Jack in 2018, their commitment to its holistic roots and healing legacy became even more profound.

"There's nothing more important to me than our ability to provide immunosuppressed clients with peace of mind, knowing our employees have been trained and certified to perform spa services for people with diabetes, cancer, lupus, chronic fatigue and other conditions," explained Izabela. "We wanted these clients to feel especially safe here when we re-opened after the COVID-19 shutdown, and shared with them all the measures we put in place, including providing services in a completely isolated spot to minimize their exposure to others."

Long-time Deerfield client SM, immunocompromised and age 62, described Renu's enhanced efforts as characteristic of "the care and respect consistently shown. They have always sterilized and used new tools for each client, worn gloves and put liners in the foot baths. The fact that they stepped up their already strenuous cleaning and sterilization protocol, making it possible for clients like me to feel safe receiving services, is like a breath of fresh air during this difficult time."

Renu's full complement of services, including skin care, waxing, massages, body treatments, manicures and pedicures, is currently available, with new offerings in the wings.

"We continually search for the latest treatments to restore and rejuvenate skin, based in science, and using only natural and organic ingredients," said Izabela. Her latest find: the deeply hydrating Arctic Lift facial, rich in extracts from algae and ocean plants, hyaluronic serums, peptide creams and sea buckthorn oils.
