New Hope Baptist Church reopens West Suburban Community Pantry mobile site

Families are welcome to access the West Suburban Community Pantry Mobile Pantry Site at New Hope Baptist Church, 509 E. Briarcliff in Bolingbrook, on the First Wednesday of every month from 4 to 5 p.m.

The pantry is piloting a new online ordering system to allow families their choice of fresh meat, eggs, cheese, fruits and vegetables in addition to shelf stable groceries.

Orders must be made online at www.wscpstore.org no later than 24 hours prior to pickup service at the church.

In order to maintain social distancing and the efficiency of drive-up pickup, pre-packed boxes have been the norm for the pantry since March when COVID-19 restrictions were put in place.

"This system allows families to have the choice they are used to while keeping them and New Hope volunteers safe," says Kristin Jachymiak, pantry director of operations. "With growing need in the community, we think this system will allow families to select specific items they will enjoy and improve the efficiency of pickup so we can serve as many families as possible."

New Hope Baptist Church has been a partner site to the Woodridge Pantry since 2018.

"We were disappointed when we had to stop in March when the church closed due to the stay-at-home order," says Cecilia Freeman, Missions Chair at New Hope. "Our missions are dedicated to helping and serving others and we never have a shortage of volunteers. We are eager to reach as many families as possible."

In the past 22 months, Freeman estimates the church has served an average of 90 families or some 380 individuals each month.

"Online ordering is easy," says Jachymiak. "Simply visit the website, and sign up and shop. Select the date and location to pick up and please remember to bring a photo idea when you come to pickup."

Online orders must be placed no later than 24 hours before pick up.

Anyone having difficulty with ordering should call Kristin Jachymiak at West Suburban Community Pantry at (630) 948-8136.
