Poplar Creek Public Library closed until April 6

The Poplar Creek Public Library District will close on Monday, March 16, at 5 p.m. and tentatively reopen on April 6 in response to government measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The library has enacted the following changes.

A Pandemic Response Policy was passed by the Board of Trustees on Monday March 16, 2020 at a Special Emergency Board Meeting.

All programs through April 30 have been cancelled. Please watch our website for updates.

The Poplar Creek Public Library District is going FINE FREE through May 31. Please do not try to return materials as the book drops will be locked.

Changes have been put into place to practice social distancing (reducing contact from person to person or among groups), which is a method that has been recommended by a variety of health experts on trying to control the spread of COVID-19.

The public has been advised by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to stay home if sick. The Poplar Creek Public Library District serves a community of all age groups, so it is also advisable for those who are sick to stay out of the library in order to not spread illnesses to other visitors.

In the event that COVID-19 is present in the Poplar Creek Public Library District, Library Director Debra Stombres will contact the Cook County Health Department, DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) and the CDC. Actions will be taken from there and the public will be notified.

It is also important to keep in mind that patrons don't have to leave their homes in order to take advantage of library offerings. There are plenty of downloadable services that allow patrons read eBooks, listen to eAudiobooks, take computing classes and more.
