Schaumburg Library to Launch Seed Library

A seed library is coming Wednesday, April 1 to the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg and will continue through the spring while supplies last. A variety of seeds, including flowers, vegetables and herbs, will be available for checkout, with no library card required.

"We are excited to offer this seed library to everyone that comes in our doors, whether you are a seasoned gardener or just starting out," said Stephanie Driscoll, creative services librarian. "Our hope is that as people become more familiar with the growing process, they'll be able to bring back their cultivated seeds to make our seed library as self-sustainable as possible"

The library's intent is to foster a sense of sharing and sustainability within the community by having those who take seeds bring seeds back from their mature plants. The seeds brought to the library will then be shared with others. Anyone who would like to donate seeds before or during the program should contact Driscoll at (847) 923-3395 or by email at sdriscoll@stdl.org.

More information about programs, events and classes at the library are listed in the library's February-March Guide, which was mailed to Schaumburg township residents and is available on the library's website.
