Schaumburg accepting applications for annual scholarship program

Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly is pleased to announce the availability of the 27th Annual Community Scholarship, in cooperation with Business and Career Services, Inc.

As a result of a joint scholarship development campaign in the business community, the village has provided funding to award scholarships to qualified residents to pursue educational training, upgrading or retraining.

Scholarships can be applied toward tuition, books and any other commensurate educational expenses. A president's committee will select all winners of the program.

Candidates must submit a completed application and two references by 3 p.m. Monday, April 6, to: Office of the Village President, 101 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg, IL 60193.

For a list of eligibility requirements and to access the application online, visit bit.ly/2jWuwd9.

Scholarship recipients will not receive cash. The associate director at Business and Career Services, Inc., will assist the scholarship recipient with academic advising, enrollment and payment directly to the educational institution of tuition, fees, books and approved supplies, not exceeding the amount of the scholarship.

Eligibility for additional services provided through the Workforce Investment Act will also be reviewed with the recipients.

Recipients will be notified by Friday, April 24, or as soon as possible thereafter. Scholarships are valid until June 15, 2021, and are nonrenewable.
