Oakton hosts upcoming Engineering Pathways to UIUC information sessions

Learn how to save money and guarantee your admission to the nationally-ranked Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) through the Engineering Pathways Program at Oakton Community College. Attend a free information session 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the college's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. in Room C140, or 6 p.m. Monday, March 2, at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, in Room 210 of the Lee Center.

Qualifying students who complete the program requirements are guaranteed admission to UIUC to complete a four-year engineering degree.

"Oakton is committed to delivering a quality education for the diverse community we serve, allowing students to pursue their educational and career goals," Joseph Kotowski, Oakton chair of engineering says. "Engineering Pathways is an affordable means to an end that provides quality instruction, affordability and even guaranteed scholarships at U of I for Pathway students with a GPA of 3.8 or above and at least 32 hours of transfer credit."

Starting at Oakton can save students more than $30,000 in tuition over two years while providing them access to advisors from both Oakton and University of Illinois, giving them more personalized attention.

Students who enroll in the program at Oakton are on their way to an exceptional career. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 140,000 new jobs are expected for engineers by 2026. And according to the most recent BLS data, engineers had a median annual wage of $91,010-more than twice the median wage for all workers.
