Deadline Nears To Apply For Fifteen (15) $2,000.00 Scholarships

Waukegan, IL, December 10, 2019: A great education is a key factor in determining future employment opportunities. Yet, the cost of receiving higher education and a college degree goes up every year. That's why Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), the sponsor for Consumers Credit Union ($1.3 Billion; Waukegan, IL), created its scholarship program. This year, CCA is offering local students the opportunity to earn one of fifteen (15) $2,000.00 scholarships. The deadline to apply Online in hopes of receiving one of this year's scholarships is 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

The $2,000.00 scholarships are available for students scheduled to graduate high school in the spring of 2020. Applicants are evaluated on academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, in addition to their involvement and activity within the local community. "We believe today's students are tomorrow's leaders," according to Kathleen Crews, President of Consumers Cooperative Association. "Offering scholarships to support that belief is one of the most important services the Association can provide."

Applications must include a transcript through the student's junior year and a copy of first semester grades from the current academic year if available; otherwise, applicants should include their senior class schedule. Eligible applicants and/or their parent/guardian must have been a Consumers Credit Union Member for a minimum of one (1) year. Scholarship winners will be recognized at the credit union's Annual Meeting on March 11, 2020. Applications are available on the Consumers Cooperative Association's page of CCU's website at myconsumers.org.
