Wyndemere breaks ground on new addition

A crowd of approximately 300 people including current and future residents, staff members, area dignitaries and partnering businesses attended the June 27 groundbreaking ceremony and reception at Wyndemere in Wheaton. The event marked the launch of the senior living community's highly anticipated expansion. The addition to Wyndemere's independent living community will feature 33 1,000-1,900 square foot apartment homes.

"Wyndemere has a prestigious history of providing extraordinary senior living in the Wheaton area," said Marty Jensen, executive director of Wyndemere. "Our new venture is a perfect complement to our existing community."

The new building will include stunning state-of-the-art apartments boasting open and airy floorplans in various options including one bedroom with 1.5 baths up to two-bedrooms with den and 2.5 baths. All have upscale finishes. Highlights of the addition will be underground parking, a saltwater pool, a top-floor lounge, and rooftop terrace.

"We've assembled an impressive team, the members of which all have extensive experience in senior housing, to work with us on this project," said Jensen. Partners in the project include LCS Development, Bridge Senior Housing, RDG Senior Living Interiors, SBA Architecture, and Ryan Construction.

Among the speakers addressing the attendees of the groundbreaking event was Phil Anderson, chief investment officer of Bridge Senior Housing. "We couldn't be more thrilled to be partners with such a great organization. They bring their commitment to excellence in everything they touch…It's a phenomenal organization and a great great partnership. We're going to build a fantastic building," he said.

Scott Doherty, vice president/senior director of operations of Life Care Services which manages Wyndemere said, "To our residents and depositors we say, 'thank you for believing in our vision.'" He added that they would all be able to enjoy their "healthy maintenance-free lifestyle in our beautiful setting."

Also addressing the attendees were Wheaton City Councilman John Rutledge and Wyndemere Resident Council President Les Wiberg.

Following a brief groundbreaking shovel ceremony, attendees celebrated with live entertainment and refreshments including a carving station, seafood station, appetizers, a sweets station and wine bar. Each attendee received gourmet chocolate in the shape of a shovel.
