West Suburban Symphony performs Aug. 3 at Cantigny

An evening symphony concert performed under the stars is scheduled for Cantigny Park this summer. And this year, for the first time, admission is free with paid parking.

The West Suburban Symphony will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. The symphony presents "Dance!," a musical tour from Kodaly's gypsy-inspired Dances of Galanta and toe-tappers from Broadway musicals to Strauss waltzes, Latin American dances and jazz standards.

Founded in 1947 and based in Hinsdale, the West Suburban Symphony is conducted by Music Director Peter Lipari.

No tickets are needed for this "Ravinia style" concert performed outside the First Division Museum.

Picnics are welcome, and blankets or chairs are recommended as seating is on the lawn. Food and drink concessions will be available.

Parking is $10 per vehicle.

More information is available online at Cantigny.org.
