Library Bus Trip Registration Begins June 3

A wide variety of bus trips from the Schaumburg Township District Library are scheduled to take place this summer, with a lineup that includes gardens, theater, museums and much more. To register, visit the Adult Information Desk on the library's second floor or sign up by phone and pay with a credit card. Registration begins at 9 a.m., Monday June 3. Those planning to register are welcome to reserve a spot in line starting at 7:30 a.m. in the west entrance of the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Bus trips leave from the Central Library's parking lot at the times listed in the June-July Guide. Details about each trip, as well as cancellation and fees, are also listed in the Guide. The following programs take place in June and July.

Bus trips kick off with "Into the Breeches," on Wednesday, June 5 at the Northlight Theatre in Skokie. The trip to see this comedy, set in 1942, does not include a meal, but food may be brought aboard the bus.

The Spectacular Gardens of Rock River Valley will include two destinations and a lunch on Tuesday, June 11. Trip-goers will travel to the Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville Wisconsin, the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, and enjoy lunch at the historic Stokholm Inn, also in Rockford.

A trip to see "The Music Man" will take place on Wednesday, July 3 at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. This classic musical features a charming confidence trickster who arrives in River City, Iowa, where his scam takes a surprising turn.

The Chicago Architectural Cruise will take day-trippers on a journey down the Chicago River on Monday, July 8, to view some of the greatest architecture in the world. This tour has been rated the top tour in Chicago and of the top 10 tours in the U.S., according to TripAdvisor users. Lunch will take place at the Mity Nice Grill.

Theater lovers may enjoy a trip to see Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" on Wednesday, July 17, at the Drury Lane Theatre. This classic murder mystery will be preceded by lunch at Drury Lane.

"The City Beautiful Movement" inspired by the 1893 World's Fair, will be the theme of a downtown Chicago tour on Friday, July 26. Art Historian Jeff Mishur will guide this tour of the city while pointing out the present-day features of the movement outlined in Burnham and Bennett's 1909 Plan of Chicago. Lunch will take place at Revival Food Hall in The National building.
