Naperville garage sale to benefit area charities

Naperville-area bargain hunters will be in for a treat early next month at the 22nd annual MEGA Garage Sale at the Celebration Community Life Center, 919 S. Washington St.

The sale will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8, which will be half-price day.

The garage sale, an initiative of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville, will feature toys, books, clothes, housewares, electronics, furniture, artwork, jewelry and other gently used items.

Drew's Garden will offer ground covers, herbs, hostas, sedums and "friendship perennials" split from backyard gardens in the area. Income generated by the plant sale will benefit a local suicide prevention organization.

Proceeds from the rest of the garage sale will support hunger initiatives, mental health programs, global missions and community organizations.

Last year's sale benefited 14 local and global groups, including Loaves & Fishes, Feed My Starving Children, a school in Haiti, Holy Family School in Chicago, Alive Center, and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois mental health services.
