Tech Campus hosts events connecting business and industry with education

On Tuesday, April 30th, the Lake County Tech Campus held a Healthcare Career Expo as well as a CTE Signing Day event. Both of these events were designed to connect businesses with students.

Over 400 students in our healthcare-related programs had to opportunity to meet with over 40 local businesses to discuss potential internships and future jobs. Organizations such as Advocate Condell Medical Center, Vista Health and Cancer Treatment Centers of America were in attendance, among many others.

At the same time, 27 of our senior students were recognized throughout the day for having been offered a paid internship or full-time job. Members of the Illinois State Board of Education joined us to commemorate their accomplishments.

"We're excited to have both of these events on the same day," Gina Schuyler, Tech Campus Assistant Principal said. "Students who come to the Tech Campus have an opportunity to set up their future and explore a subject they are passionate about. It is events such as this Career Expo that allow us to celebrate on CTE Signing Day."

Laser Precision, a manufacturing company in Libertyville, hired four Tech Campus students to full-time, entry level positions. Kim Wimer, Human Resources Manager, is excited for what their future holds.

"We decided to start a partnership with the Tech Campus because we saw an ever-growing need for skilled labor inside of our workforce," Wimer said. "We knew we were going to have to build a pipeline, and couldn't be happier to partner with Tech Campus."
