Money Smart Week Coming to Schaumburg Library

A variety of money-related programs will take place during the first week of April at the Schaumburg Township District Library and its branches in Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park. The programs are part of Money Smart Week, a national initiative of the American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank (Chicago), created to help consumers better manage their personal finances. "Wills and Trusts" will take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, April 1 in the Rasmussen Room of the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Attorney Jacob K. Ehrensaft will discuss wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate and guardianship. Learn more about planning ahead and updating existing documents.

"Annuities and How They Work" will be held from 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, April 2 at the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Rd. Kevin Koykar, investment adviser representative of Gradient Advisors, LLC, will discuss the fundamentals of annuities. Participants will discover their benefits and limitations, and examine the role annuities can play in planning or retirement.

"Morningstar" is scheduled from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 3 at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library, 1550 Hassell Rd. A Morningstar representative will give an overview of the Morningstar Investment Research Center, an easy-to-navigate database that aids in reaching investment goals. Participants will discover way of using this tool to collect financial information and get reliable portfolio analysis, as well as learn about investment options.

"Women and Money: 12 Months to Master Finances" will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 4 in the Adult Classroom of the Central Library. Personal finance educator Karen Chan will introduce you to her Money Calendar - a tool for keeping track of where money goes and estimating how much income will be available in retirement. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend to team up with during this yearlong process.
