Choose local bubbles for New Year's Eve

Celebrating with a toast of something bubbly on New Year's Eve is a part of almost every celebration and Illinois' own Lynfred Winery recommends toasting with something local.

Lynfred Winery creates almost 100,000 gallons of wine annually, but is most proud of their much smaller, 2,000-gallon sparkling wine production. Lynfred offers 8 different sparkling wines ranging from brut (dry) to doux (sweet), including: Brut, Almond, Apricot, Cherry, Cranberry, Peach, Plum and Raspberry.

Every bottle of Lynfred sparkling wine is made by Lynfred's Chilean-born winemakers, Andres Basso and Rodrigo Gonzalez, in the method charmat (a style where bubbles are created during a secondary fermentation in a high-pressure tank).

The Lynfred sparkling wines retail for $25 a bottle at the winery. A special New Year's promotion will offer sparkling wines as a "buy one, get one 50% off" from Dec. 26-31 at the winery and its tasting rooms, offering up the perfect opportunity to sip some local bubbles this New Year's Eve!

Lynfred Winery, 15 S. Roselle Road in Roselle, is the oldest and largest, continuously-operating, family winery in Illinois, producing over 70 varietals and 30,000 cases of fine wine per year. Since 1979 Lynfred Winery has offered guests the finest vintages, gourmet cuisine and luxurious lodging. Lynfred is truly one of Chicago's most unique attractions.

Lynfred Winery has tasting rooms located in Wheeling (971 N. Milwaukee), Wheaton (127 W. Front St.) and Naperville (21 W. Jefferson).
