Pets for U.S. Heroes to host Veterans Day adoption event Nov. 11 with Hinsdale Humane Society

Pets for U.S. Heroes, an organization devoted to facilitating the adoption of homeless animals to veterans and first responders, will hold a Veterans Day adoption event from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

This free event is hosted by Pets for U.S. Heroes of Deerfield, Illinois, in partnership with Hinsdale Humane Society at its new Pet Rescue & Resource Center, 21 Salt Creek Lane in Hinsdale.

"We are one of the first to host an event in Hinsdale Humane Society's new facility and it feels like a great match since they'll soon offer heir pet therapy services for veterans," said Paula Goldman, founder of Pets for U.S. Heroes. "The goal of this event is to get some wonderful dogs into loving homes with heroes who will benefit from the support, companionship and therapeutic benefits provided by the adoption of homeless dogs and cats."

Pets for U.S. Heroes arranges adoptions for U.S. veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, first responders and others working in high stress occupations by providing the following services:

• Adoption facilitation and support

• Connection to adoption resources

• Initial routine veterinary services

• Access to a 2- to 4-week training course

• Ongoing, limited access to behaviorists and trainers

• One-month supply of food

• Collar, leash, toys and treats

Hinsdale Humane Society will provide free adoptions for qualified applicants in its Jake and Elinor Brickman Education Center within the Pet Rescue & Resource Center. Visit www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org.
