Upcoming Library Programs Highlight Medicare and Tax Laws

Medicare and new tax laws will be the subjects of two upcoming programs at the Schaumburg Township District Library. Both are free, but require registration.

"Medicare Solutions" will take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15 in the Rasmussen North Room. David Wylly of Medicare Solutions Network will explain Medicare principles and how to more easily navigate the process. Those who are receiving Medicare benefits, will be in the near future, or are helping loved ones manage their care will receive helpful information during this program.

"New Tax Laws Affecting Businesses in 2018" will take place from 6:30-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library, 1550 Hassell Rd. Tax practitioner Geralyn Jover-Ledesma, CPA, LLM, will discuss the sweeping changes to the U.S. tax code impacting businesses. Learn about the reduction in effective tax rates, the elimination of some deductions, exclusions and credits. These changes will take effect in 2018.
