New Huntley theater group to host fundraising concerts Aug. 24-25

It's Showtime Theatre of Huntley is pleased to announce that it has been named the resident community theater group of the Huntley Park District.

"We are excited to be expanding the arts in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Huntley is easily accessed by the I-90 expressway and Route 47 making it a great fine arts destination for McHenry, Kane and Cook counties," explains founder Rikki Lee Travolta.

To kick off the relationship, It's Showtime Theatre of Huntley will be presenting "Ticket To Broadway," a concert cabaret featuring the area's top local talent performing numbers from Broadway favorites including "Wicked," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Newsies," "Waitress," "Rent," "Pippin," "Book of Mormon," "Hamilton," and more.

The concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25, in the Huntley Park District's Cosman Theater, 12015 Mill St. in Huntley.

The entertainment each night will be complimented by a silent auction and raffle for treasures including autographed sports memorabilia from the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, and Blackhawks; tickets to local professional theaters Marriott Theatre, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, and Raue Center for the Arts; vouchers for local favorite restaurants; health and beauty packages; and autographed celebrity photos from Oscar-nominated actor John Travolta, Tony-winning composer Stephen Sondheim, Emmy-nominated actor Johnny Galecki, Academy Award-winning actor and director Robert Redford, and two time Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman, to name just a few.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.tututix.com/showtimeofhuntley. It also will be available for cash or check at the door.

Ticket to Broadway is being directed by Aaron Gomez with music direction by James Gritschke.

"The talent we have performing in Ticket to Broadway is incredible," states Travolta. "Audiences are going to be amazed. Add in the chance to win amazing prize packages, and you have the recipe for a perfect night of entertainment and supporting the arts."

It's Showtime Theatre of Huntley was founded by Travolta in cooperation with the Huntley Park District to enrich the community by presenting quality theatrical productions at an affordable price.

Travolta is a well-known theatrical and film performer with local ties. Serving alongside Travolta on the board of advisers are Regina Belt-Daniels, Roger Zawacki, Deb Swinford, Amanda Cohodes, Aaron Gomez, and Billy Seger.

Funds raised by the Ticket to Broadway concert and fundraiser will go toward It's Showtime's 2019 season.
