Abide: With Sara Groves & Lina Abujamra

On Friday, April 27, from 7-9:30 p.m. in the ATO Chapel, AM1160 Salem Radio and Trinity International University present Abide, a one night event where participants can worship together and be encouraged to abide in the fullness of Christ.

America, in many respects, has been built upon the industrious work ethic of its people. That tradition continues unabated, to the point that we've created multiple tools and platforms to enable us to work industriously around the clock. Non-stop social media, incessant reminders of lists to check, at times with amorphous goals and unending expectations. Is our identity wrapped up in such engagement? In the things we do and accomplish in the so-called 'rat race?'

Featuring worship artist Sara Groves and Bible teacher and ER Physician Dr. Lina Abujamra, AM1160 and TEDS offer this event to the broader, local Christian community. Abide is intended to remind attendees of the importance of taking time away from the fast-paced engagement of modern day society and spending it with God. The event is tailored for men's and women's Bible studies, small groups, couples, or singles groups, and there is a discounted rate of 25 percent off available for groups of 10 or more.

General admission and VIP tickets are both available through iTickets or at 1160hope.com/abide. VIP tickets are $40 for individuals, $30 for groups of 10 people or more, and general admission tickets are $15 per individual, $11.25 for groups of 10 or more people. Those who purchase VIP tickets will be able to attend a meet and greet with Groves and AbuJamra and have access to the best seats in the venue. The meet and greet Q&A begins at 6 p.m. the same night as the event in Kantzer Auditorium.

The event was coordinated between AM1160's Dan Ehrman, who hosts 'Leading the Church: Conversations with Influential Chicago Pastors' weeknights at 8 p.m., Saturday at 6:30 p.m and Sunday at 1 p.m., and members of TEDS staff, including former Associate Vice President for Enrollment Development Ben Dockery, who now is a campus pastor for Christ Church Lake Forest.

Abide will begin with a worship set by Groves, leading into AbuJamra's talk for the evening. The rest of the night will involve more worship and a panel discussion.

In addition to the event itself, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase music from Groves and other merchandise from vendors present in the chapel lobby during Abide. Childcare is not provided for this event.

Sara Groves is singer/songwriter and recording artist. She works with International Justice Mission to advocate for victims of human trafficking, serving with them for the past 12 years. Groves has been nominated for seven Dove Awards and has produced a string of successful albums including her latest, 'Abide With Me,' a collection of hymns recorded in a 110-year-old church.

'Sara Groves is a fantastic singer songwriter,' campus pastor for Christ Church Lake Forest Ben Dockery said. 'She writes with depth, complexity and ease that connects to life's challenges and joys.'

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Lina Abujamra is a Pediatric ER doctor and founder of Living with Power Ministries. Her vision is to bring hope to the world by connecting Biblical answers to everyday life. Abujamra has authored several books including: Thrive, Stripped, and Resolved.

Additionally, Abujamra has an iTunes podcast, a large variety of videos on YouTube and Vimeo, hosts 'Today's Single Christian' on Moody Radio and 'Morning Minutes,' a daily audio devotional available on her website.
